X-Supreme8000 XRF (x-ray fluorescence) spectrometer for materials analysis used in quality

The Geno/Grinder 2010 is the newest version of the popular GenoGrinder 2000 homogenizer.  This unit has a smaller footprint and is lighter than the original. This homogenizer can handle 15 and 50 ml conical tubes, cryo-blocks, deep well plates, vial sets, and microfuge tubes.

Pulverizing and Blending

Freezer/Mill Capacity and Grinding Tests

Not every substance which is difficult to grind at room temperature can be pulverized by cryogenic milling. For this reason we at SPEX SamplePrep recommend that you discuss your samples and grinding requirements with one of our specialists before selecting a mill. If there is any question about whether a sample can be ground in a Freezer/Mill we will request that a portion be submitted for test-grinding.

Most naturally occurring materials of biological origin can be cryogenically ground, usually to a fine particle size: hair, muscle tissue, bone, wood, plant stems, cotton fiber, etc.

The SPEX SamplePrep 8000-series Mixer/Mills are efficient, compact laboratory mills capable of pulverizing one or two samples in the 10-gram range. Functionally described as shaker mills or high-energy ball mills, these Mixer/Mills shake one or two containers back and forth several thousand times a minute. Multi-purpose mills, they are capable of rapidly reducing hard, brittle samples to analytical fineness, blending powders, making emulsions, and performing mechanical  alloying. There are two versions: the classic 8000M Mixer/Mill, with one clamp, and the 8000D Mixer/Mill with two clamps.

Oxford Instruments X-MET5100 Hand-held XRF analyser on BBC's Restoration Revisited

This unique programmable laboratory press performs the entire pressing cycle with the push of a single button. The 3630 X-Press is a 35-ton programmable hydraulic press intended for the repetitive pressing of sample pellets for spectroscopy. Automation greatly improves sample uniformity and frees the technician for other tasks, as this press will operate unattended. In automatic mode, this press performs a complete pressing cycle.

On starting, it goes to a selected pressure, maintains the pressure for a set time, and drops the pressure to zero over a programmed interval. On completion of the cycle, the press returns the platen back to the base position and makes an audible signal indicating it is ready for the next sample.
